EXTRA HELP FOR JOBSEEKERS FROM NEXTSTEP!
Careers Advisers from nextstep, a government funded, local face-to-face service for adults, have created a comprehensive booklet covering all aspects of the job hunting process. The 31 page guide is available complimentary to any clients attending a nextstep advice session.

The booklet, entitled 'How can I get that job?' covers a wide range of related topics such as: where to find vacancies; application forms; applying online; CV preparation; covering letters and interview techniques.

The book has been created by experienced nextstep Careers Advisers to cover all the key areas for consideration when looking for a job and contains useful information which clients can put into practice regardless of qualification level and experience.

With the continued rise in unemployment, an increasing number of people are finding themselves in situations where they are looking for a job for the first time in years and need a helping hand.

nextstep client David Taylor said: "When I was made redundant after 15 years and had to look for a new job, I didn't know where to start! It was great to find out a service like nextstep existed. I made an appointment to see my local nextstep adviser and found the session invaluable. They gave me loads of advice on how I can move forward and help advance my career prospects and increased my confidence. I have found the 'How to get that job' booklet really useful to refer to when searching and applying for jobs - I have a couple of interviews lined up so fingers crossed!"

Annie Martin, Team Leader for Careers Advisers from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight area said, "Since the recession started, we've been seeing so many clients who have been made redundant and are unused to the job hunting process. It made sense to produce this booklet and give them something to take away from their advice sessions they can refer back to. We've made it as practical as possible and feedback from clients is that they have found it really useful."
